The Dream Come True

There is no doubt that is show is a big success! Congratulate to all the HC members! And i wanna thank the committee of the show because it's them arrange this good show to the UM.

Yes, our dream come true!

But, let's go back and see what had happened!

We had drama and magic show! Actually the drama is very and creative! It links all the Magic shows!

Talent performer! Aggie!

21 guns! It surprises me because I don't know Diego can sing a song well.

The high school musical dance. Sean can dance,too!

However, the dance of high school musical shows their real happiness to all the audience! Although I am in the control room, I can feel it.

GujiGuji dancer, they are great!

And Dr.Zen also sing a song in the show.(Actually he is a good singer!)

 And there is one person I have to mention about. And this is Bob. Without him in the control room I think it will be a big loss in the show. You have no idea how familiar he is with control room! Just like his friends? And he is a funny guy!

Well, all in all this is a successful show! wonderful performance! wonderful cooperation! Wonderful!

Toefl test in Guangzhou

Well,in the May 4th movement activities, I ask for leaving to go to guangzhou to take the toefl exam! And here I want to say thanks to those who prepare everything for us for the toefl exam in guangzhou!! Especially my classmates prepare the transport tools and book the hotel room for us! Thx.!!

So, let's start our journey!

First, we take a 45seat bus go to guangzhou! 45seat??So luxury! XD  But actually this is a suprise~ because the firm which rent bus to bus do not have a available bus for us only carrying 15 people..So..that's we have a 45seat big bus~

Actually, We spend about 3hours to go to guangzhou ~And finally arrived at the hotel called RuJia(meaning Feel like home in English~).

It's a comfortable hotel to live in. Of course we not only play in the hotel we also spend a big part of time to prepare and share how to go over the toefl test!

So, How warm the feeling is! Like a family already!

 Well, it's a pleasure that I meet my friend in high school in Guangzhou! If i do not enter  the UM, I will be her classmates in the same school and same major!Nice to meet her! Then I introduce her to Hc2013 and have a wonderful meal together!

She also lead us to the place to will take the test and the supermarket!

Although this is a toefl test Journey, we enjoy ourselves by walking around in guangzhou.

There is no doubt that it's a very short journey only last for 2 day! We are going back to Zhuhai lu~!

When we are still on the road, we talk , laugh , and Sing! Can you even think of that? Everybody in the car is singing! Having Fun!

HAHA! I am not tired! But they are all sleeping now! And I am playing with my notebook~ Someone has to care whether we are arriving, right?haha~

After 2hours lar, we arrive at zhuhai safely. And this is the end of our toefl test journey but it's not the end of the 2013 class journey, right? Keep going!

[Groupthink] The antecedents of groupthink

The antecedents of groupthink

When we are cooperating with your group mates, one of the disadvantages is the existence of group think.

Before we try to limit the effect of groupthink, we should try to understand the the antecedents of groupthink.

There are three kinds of antecedents that will lead to groupthink which are high cohesiveness, group structure, and stressful situations.

Although high cohesiveness will enhance group performance, it can also deduct the group performance due to the failure of decision cause by groupthink. 


When a group become cohesive, it is likely to decrease the number of disagreement because of the pressure to conform. In this case, less idea or action will be come up with and the group will tend to choose the same idea which may lead to failure. This high cohesiveness will create self-censorship and apparent unanimity in a group.

Another antecedent of groupthink is the group structure which is mainly divided into four factors.

The first one is the homogeneous members. A group consist of homogeneous members will have similar background such as education and culture. Their way of thinking can be also similar. Because of the reasons which have been mentioned above, the groups thought is limited in their own point of view and it is hard for them to considerate from outsider’s angle. At last their ideas will tend to be the same and avoid risk taking.

The second one is isolation, which means that the group is isolated from that people. When the group is isolated, it does not require gaining ideas from outsiders and draws the decision by them. For example, the government wants to make some decision but it wants the decision or action remains secret. Then the government will not gain any opinion or criticism from outsiders. Without the opinions of outsiders, it’s very easy to fall into illusions of group invulnerability and morality.

The third one is directive leadership. Why leader is very important? It’s because leader can control the group process and have greater influence than other members. If a strong leader exists in the group discussion and always gives his opinions clearly, it’s likely the group discussion will be limited or controlled. And the group members hide their own opinions and conform on leader’s decision due to the pressure. This situation often happens in the military. In the discussion it’s very important to have disagreements. A discussion without any dissents, the decision will have many undefined problem even result in great loss.

The fourth one is unsystematic procedure for making and reviewing decisions. If the decision making procedure is unsystematic, for example, the decision is made by the leader of the team based on his preference but not the result of discussion, it may also cause group think. If the procedure of reviewing decision is missing, it will cause problem because there is no chance for members to judge the decision again after the decision is made.

The last antecedent is stressful situation. 

When a group is under stress, assuming that time is limited to make an important decision, the person who makes this decision will feel insecurity and attempts to find the reassuring support of other group members. Somehow the group will also reassure the decision in order to reduce the stress. Then it may lead to a situation that everyone agree on the decision without and disagreement. It causes the groupthink. In this case, under stress, urgency can overrule accuracy. But this kind of decision making model can reduce the time to make a decision and it’s not necessary to have a bad outcome when the problem is a routine one. 

After the mock test

Before the mock test, I can not find a direction to improve my English.

I don't know which part i am weak in and I don't know which I am good at.

But after the 4hs mock test(It does not as loog as we feel.), we know what is toefl, and how it will appear.

Well, I used to afraid of taking the toefl exam but not now.

SOME PART OF FEAR COMES FROM UNKNOWN.

So, getting to know more things such as toefl exam benefits us.

Something I have learned from organizing the workshop

i.         Controlling is very important in organizing the activities and it has to be continuous. Controlling can ensure the result of the job to see whether it can be fitted to the planning expectation. If controlling is continuous and excellent, we can make sure the plan is processed effective. and if the controlling job do not continuous, it may lead a big mistake and the effort will be discounted. For example, in this workshop, I forget to prepare the music which cause the workshop opening delaying 5mins and it contribute to the time controlling problem later in the workshop. So in my opinion, as the organizer, we also need somebody else to conduct the controlling job on us. Next example, we all do not remember to bring the material to the workshop in advance. The testing of computer, the delaying of bringing the materials also contributes to the time problem in the workshop. In order to overcome the problem, we should do the controlling job no matter what time or which process on each member.

ii.          Suggestion is good for organizing the activities although the suggestion may not be accepted.  We put forward many useful and useless suggestions in the meetings. For the time we should hold the workshop or what kind of paper we should buy all come from the suggestions of the members. Suggestions make things perfect. For example, the name of the game we have in the workshop people do what people do contains what we have learn in our class and it’s easy for participate to know how to play the game and what’s the meaning of the game. Getting more suggestions it also can be applied to our life when we meet problems. We can learn from other people’s past experience or creative ideas and decide how to solve the problem base on our critical thinking. 

iii.          Be positive. This is the biggest harvest I gain from workshop. The workshop is in our midterm exam period so it’s no doubt that all of us are busy. But all of us are willing to take the job seriously. We can feel the positive energy on each member. Positive people have more strength and better determination to do a good job. We are busy but we still attending meetings and laughing when we discussed. We are trying and never give up when we met problems. And we are willing to give a hand to those who cannot finish the job with solid reason. Keeping your mind positively, this is the most impressive experience in the workshop.

iv.          Communication is important especially when cooperation is needed. Some of our members do not check mail and we do not know they have no idea of the process of our workshop. Thus, some of us are over allocated the workload and some of us under. Above all, Communication is good for cooperating. We should motivate to get the first hand information of the workshop and members.

The short film "the black hole"

The short film tells a story about a sleep-deprived office worker accidentally discovers a black hole – and then greed gets the better of him. And in the end, he is trapped in the black hole because of the misusing of the black hole.


The discovery of the black should be a great finding. However, the dark side of human---greedy turns the discovery in to a tool to gain the better of himself.


Think about if we have use the black hole in a good way. We can have done so many meaningful things! 


It reminds me the creation and the usage of gunpowder in the past. Chinese created powder to make fireworks but later it was used in the war and become a necessary and efficient tool to kill people.


But how to stop this?


In my opinion, if the black hole was found by a scientist, will it has a different story? maybe yes, maybe no. But if the black hole is found by a good people, it must become a great breakout in the world.


So, it's necessary for us to be good. Or, many good things such as "black hole" will be misuse and become a disaster.

An old story, an old question.

You are driving along in your car on a wild, stormy night, it's raining heavily....?

.... When suddenly you pass by a bus stop, and you see three people waiting for a bus:

1. An old lady who looks as if she is about to die.

2. An old friend who once saved your life.

3. The perfect partner you have been dreaming about.

Which one would you choose to offer a ride to, knowing very well that there could only be one passenger in your car?

Well, after asking many people about this question. Most of the people give the answer like "I will of course drive the old lady to the hospital first and miss my girl and old friend".

Finally, there is a good answer:

Get out of the car, ask the old friend to drive the old lady to a hospital and then drive himself home. I'll stay at the bus stop with my dream partner.

Yes, this is the answer which seems perfect: The old lady is saved, to let your old friend to do his job, and to be with your perfect partner.

The answer looks like very easy, but why we still need to ask so many people to get a good answer? 

I think it's because most of people choose to stay in the car instead of getting out of the car.Here, The car means the advantage of yourself.

If we want to gain more in our life, we need to try to get out of our advantage to have a try on new things. And then, may be we will find our new potential.

Otherwise, your life will be similar with asking this question without considering getting out of the car.You life will continue to be DULL.
